Fuzztail Butte Trail

Coming in off of 97 North on either Lava Cast Road (the long way) or North Paulina Road (easier) you'll be met with washboard roads--you might as well air down. Once you're off the roads and on the trail, things will get narrow but not too rough. Some ups and downs may have you wondering if it will turn out for the best. There's an epic clearing at the halfway point that would make a great lunch spot. Fuzztail Butte is a mild drive up with a set of mogos at the top to pump the blood, but it's a short rush. The top is the Thing of Kings, with a spectacular view of the mountains and valleys. It is a trip well worth the day and even better overnight. Push forward.
