Trail Overview
FS 2690-920 Northern Segment is a tight, one-lane dirt and volcanic rock trail that connects Ray Benson Sno-Park on the west to the intersection with FS 900 on the east. It moves from rock garden to rock garden, with one section that is often wet and holds deep mudholes. This is part of a larger OHV system, so expect OHV traffic throughout and keep your speed in check. Rated a 4 for the various rock garden sections, it rewards high clearance and careful tire placement.
Difficulty
Rated a 4, this is a moderate rock trail, not a beginner road. The challenge is the steady volcanic rock gardens that run much of its length, plus one low section that often holds deep mudholes and standing water. The track is tight and one-lane with rock ledges, so high clearance and careful tire placement matter. Skid plates and good articulation help. It is well within reach of a capable stock 4x4 driven carefully, but low-clearance vehicles should stay off.
