Trail Overview
Cline Buttes OHV Trail 32 is a beautiful and dynamic double-track route that offers a wonderful mix of scenic views and engaging terrain. The adventure begins in an open OHV play area, initially following a network of braided, sandy roads that meander southward through scattered juniper trees. Early on, you are treated to a stunning, clear view of gorgeous snow-capped mountain peaks rising beautifully in the distance. As the trail progresses, it eventually splits off to the east, becoming its own distinct double-track path marked by a brown trail marker for Route 32. From here, the corridor dramatically narrows, winding through very tight, encroaching juniper trees and introducing slightly off-camber sandy berms. The route then transitions into a more challenging trail, where the dirt gives way to fields of loose, bowling ball-sized rocks, fixed rocky shelves, and large, sharp boulders. After navigating these rugged, uneven drops, the trail beautifully loops back around, depositing you right back into the sandy play area where you started.
Difficulty
While the beginning of the trail is incredibly mellow and sandy, the second half introduces significant challenges that require careful attention. You will encounter loose, bowling ball-sized rocks, fixed rock shelves, and sharp, uneven drops. Because ground clearance can be easily compromised here, it is incredibly important to choose your driving lines very carefully, placing your tires directly on the highest rocks to avoid painfully scraping vital undercarriage components. Maintaining a slow, highly controlled momentum will allow your suspension to walk over the rocky ledges gracefully, ensuring a successful and damage-free ride back to the play area.
