Trail Overview
Cline Buttes OHV Trail 27 North is a flat and beautifully meandering route that is currently designated as a motorcycle-only green trail. Although it is restricted to moto traffic, the pathway distinctly retains its original, wide double-track footprint. The trail carves a gentle, winding path through a classic high-desert landscape, heavily lined with aromatic green juniper trees and low-lying dry scrub brush. As you navigate the sweeping sandy turns, you will encounter brown fiberglass trail markers clearly pointing out junction directions. The surface is predominantly firm, compacted sand sprinkled with scattered, loose rocks ranging from fist-sized to slightly larger volcanic stones resting directly on the track. Moving deeper into the trail, you will weave through a few lightly shaded sections where the tree canopy tightens, requiring you to navigate around fallen deadwood branches and brief, embedded rock gardens comprised of dark, porous volcanic stones.

This route earns a very mild difficulty rating of 2 out of 10, making it an incredibly welcoming and stress-free ride for two-wheeled explorers. Because the terrain is entirely flat and free of any steep, challenging hill climbs, maintaining your balance and forward momentum is exceptionally easy. The primary obstacles to keep an eye out for are the scattered loose rocky cobbles interrupting the winding sandy stretches. Thanks to the wide, double-track footprint of this motorcycle-only green trail, you will have plenty of room to pick smooth, sweeping lines around the debris rather than being forced into a single narrow rut. When you do need to roll directly over the scattered rocks, simply stand up on your pegs, maintain a relaxed grip on the handlebars, and let your dirt bike's suspension comfortably soak up the minor bumps for a smooth, enjoyable cruise.
