Trail Overview

This route will lead you from Bennett Pass down into Badger Lake. After leaving Bennett Pass Road, you will be heading down a fairly steep grade on Forest Road 140. The road is a single track with some tight spaces that could pin stripe full-size rigs. Most high clearance vehicles will be able to take this route. You will have some outstanding views of the surrounding mountains, and Badger Lake is amazing. There are about half a dozen dedicated spaces for vehicle camping and a few other walk-in sites.

Stock f350 long bed toyo m/t. Inch or so of snow / ice traction was still very good. Just upped the pucker factor going through the rock face. Took about two hours to get to Badger lake it’s slow moving in full size truck. Don’t care about your paint if you’re in a full size truck. Areas of trees growing into road. High ground clearance is needed in a few area over all just super rocky/ bumpy not hard. Good fishing 🎣

The trail was clear. Heavily rutted in spots with larger rock debris on trail. Downed trees have been cleared, but a tight fit in some areas.

Very rocky and slow going in 4lo down to and back from Badger Lake due to uneven rocks and some ruts. Cleared everything with 31'' tires and 2" lift but went around a few questionable rocks sticking up. A few good camping spots along 4860. All trees were cleared, but plant/stick pin striping can occur. There was a small 7"-ish water crossing to get to the boat launch and last couple of campsites once at Badger Lk. A couple of campers but less than five people total, lots of water left and the trout fishing was good fun :)

I started at Meadows. Only small amounts of water are in the road Some parts are forest terrain, other parts are very rocky with both large and jagged rocks. 3550 is more difficult in parts than 4680. I didn’t need any lockers and was in 4LO.

Pants were wet with excitement. Boy was this trail exciting. Go early to avoid people. Isn’t bad at all did it stock with bigger tires. Cliff section isn’t bad but I can see how it can freak some people out.

snow mud and beautiful trails. what else could you ask for! 1 log on the trail and rocks and brush that will hit your car and rims next to a cliff.

Super rough road, nothing too complicated on trail other than sharp rocks. Slow ride but worth the effort to get to the lake. We had it all to ourselves for the afternoon.

Just a bumpy ride down. Nothing really technical about this section of roadway

We drove in from hood river side and out towards Wamic. If you drive from Wamic west to the lake the roads are pretty good. There are some basketball size rocks and high clearance is needed. 4x4 was not needed. Stock jeep gladiator Mojave

Wouldn’t suggest Subarus try this one. Deeper ruts, more water, and more rock than years’ past. Badger lake is, as always, gorgeous.
