Trail Overview

Rough dirt and rock road accessing Alder Springs Trailhead and Wychus Creek. This road passes through a seasonal gate (and then through a private land easement) to access a section of the Crooked River National Grasslands, which is closed seasonally to protect large game winter range. Dusty and washboard up on top. Wychess is high, but still passable, 28” on the deep side. The road west of the creek has substantial washouts that may be impassable in a stock pickup or suv.

Dirt road with sections of rocks and ruts. One section is very rutted, however there is a bypass. Dropping into the river canyon is single lane and rocky. River crossing was 12-18" (sent the dog out to test the water depth). Crossed Whychus river and circled back to Wilt Rd by way of FR 6360 and FR 63. Several fire rings and tables on east side of river and signs for dispersed camping on west side of river. Did not go to Alder Springs Trailhead (turn off is about 1.5 miles east of the river).
