Trail Overview

The road is a well-maintained red gravel route with numerous side spur trails branching away from the main road, several of which offer more challenging terrain for those looking to explore farther. The main route itself is smooth and easy to drive, making it suitable for most vehicles while still providing access to a variety of off-road adventures. Several pull-offs and clearings offer suitable locations for dispersed camping along the route. The eastern portion of the trail is noticeably more corrugated due to frequent vehicle traffic, but the surface gradually becomes much smoother from the central section westward, providing a comfortable drive through the forest. Drivers should also watch for the area's many ground squirrels, which frequently dart across the road with little warning. Overall, this is a beautiful, well-maintained route with excellent scenery and numerous opportunities for exploration. If approaching from the East via National Forest Road 038, this trail enters private property managed by the Green Diamond Resource Company. No camping or wandering off onto other spur trails is permitted when driving on Green Diamond Resource Company land.
