Trail Overview

This is Radcliff to Campbell Tunnel Vinton County Tunnel Loop West. This starts at Lake Hope in this section and runs counterclockwise south through Vinton county passing Campbell Tunnel which was recently closed through the Appalachian Foothills. Gas and food can be found along the way. Good for a day trip. You can do the entire loop in about six hours.

Nice meandering trail. 2wd is all that’s needed except for towards the very end. There was a fairly steep and rutted out hill climb that was water saturated. 4wd high was all that’s needed except was needed.

Our journey through this trail was cut short. Heavy rains during the previous week led to an impassable water crossing. The road leading up to the water crossing was flooded as well by about 2 ft.

I ran about half the trail from the southern end at Union Ridge Rd to Gambill Hollow Rd, realized the app has the trail time incorrect, was out of time for adventure, so turned onto OH 356 to US 50 at Bolins Mills. I’m guessing the trail time should be marked at 1.25 hours instead of .5 hours.
