Trail Overview

Three Fork Gap - FS 408 is an easy-grade gravel road (1/10) on the Tusquittee Ranger District of the Nantahala National Forest, within the Nantahala Game Land. The road follows North Shoal Creek, running alongside the water before dead-ending at the turnaround, where you'll find a possible campsite. It's a simple out-and-back with the creek for company the whole way. Camping rules on game lands vary and may carry seasonal restrictions, so confirm with the proper authorities before you go: Tusquittee Ranger District, 828-837-5152, or check current alerts at fs.usda.gov/r08/northcarolina/alerts.
