Cherokee Lake Road - FS 313 is a well-maintained 1/10 forest service road providing direct access to the Cherokee Lake Day-Use Area in Nantahala National Forest near Murphy, North Carolina. The developed day-use site includes picnic tables, grills, restrooms, fishing piers, and docks, offering an excellent setting for picnicking, fishing, and lakeside relaxation. The area typically opens seasonally around early April. From the recreation area, visitors can enjoy the easy 0.9-mile Cherokee Lake Trail along the shoreline or follow the Lake Cherokee Trail to Persimmon Dam, where additional fishing and scenic views are available. It is a convenient, low-effort destination for day visits combining recreation and light hiking.
