Trail Overview

Back Irish Creek is a scenic Forest Service Road that travels along private property and leads into the Pisgah National Forest. It is well maintained and spacious pull offs for bypassing vehicles, but recent storm damage is present toward the beginning of the trail where an obstructed tree has been removed. This includes a semi down tree that is still passable towards the end where you will be greeted with gate and a single dispersed camping spot with a stone fire ring.

Difficulty

This trail is a well-maintained gravel road that a variety of vehicles can use. Spaciously wide enough for passing vehicles to pass without pulling off the road.

This is a short trail that’s entirely gravel. It was single lane but two cars could possibly squeeze by each other. It ended at a closed gate with a small dispersed camping site which we stayed at for one night. The site was ok but it’s at the base of a hill and not particularly level. There was a creek nearby so bugs were possibly worse than other spots. There are two hiking trails that go from the camp site. We hiked the one that led uphill. We followed it for a couple of miles before turning around. The trail kept going and there were several forks along the way. If anyone comes off the hiking trail they will end up in your camping spot which happened to us once. I will probably look for a different spot next time but no major complaints. I had cell service but my wife did not.
