Trail Overview

This easy, beautiful mountain route travels through aspen stands, ponderosa pines, and gorgeous open meadows. FR 103 Teakettle Rock can be reached from Highway 96 by traveling south on the OnX trail "Run to the Rio Puerco Campground" and from Highway 126 traveling north around mile marker 16. The picturesque Teakettle Rock majestically stands in the Jarosa drainage. Legend has it that when Paul Bunyan logged in this area, he used this teakettle to brew his tea. Copper ores stained the rock with blues and greens in spots. Elk and deer are frequently seen along this route.

Trail was in very good condition from the junction of Moon Canyon to Hwy 126. We were there Saturday of Labor Day weekend and there was a lot of traffic which led to a lot of dust. Biggest obstacles were several cows in the road that refused to move.
