Trail Overview

This sandy, rutted route leads past Mesa de Cuba, the most eastern of the five mesas that comprise the San Juan Basin Badlands. There are a few places to park along the road. A short hike will take you to narrow canyons, hoodoos and beautiful multihued rock sculptures. Views from the road show the red, yellow, blue, white, and black layers of rock.

Good desert scenery, took a side trail partly up on of the one of the rock formations beautiful view. Some of the north/south portion is beside an arroyo that has encroached into the trail and has been bypassed. But I didn't realize the difficulty until almost upon it.
