Trail Overview

Guaje Trail is Forest Service Road #803. The lower portion of the trail from town is fairly mild and traverses the ridge top. As the trail climbs, expect a shelf road with a fairly steep grade and lots of loose rocky boulders. The dirt on the ridge top can become very slick and muddy during rainfall; avoid it in those conditions.

Some difficult off-camber incline portions from very eroded areas. Not impossible, but not for novice to intermediate riders like myself. Ended up turning around after getting stuck in some ruts.

The trail has many large ruts, some off camber areas, and rocks yards with some rock larger than 14"-16". OnX should consider changing the difficulty rating to a 4. Great trail, had a great time in my JK with 35" tires.

within the first half mile leaving Los Alamos there's a deeply rutted steep hill that steps up the difficulty 3 points. it's passable if you're fully committed, otherwise you might be backing down a few hundred feet on sketchy trail conditions

The last part that drops down to the canyon is very rocky and steep. Larger bikes or ATV's are likely to have some trouble. Up to that point it is pretty easy.
