Trail Overview

Batsto Fireline trail can connect you from Atsion Lake to Batsto Village. This trail has long spans of flooding present year-round due to the high water table in the area. The main surface of the trail is loose sand and mud. From deep water holes to sand whoops, this trail can be difficult for the average 4x4. Even a vehicle with 37-inch tires may see its headlights disappear in some of the water crossings.

You can sometimes get stuck; it's better to drive with a winch.

Large portion of the train is flooded. Possible but be cautious, since it has soft sand you'll get stuck if you aren't careful

This trail is not as difficult as it has been before because the big holes near Bastio have been filled in. Now it’s just deep sand ruts and whoops. Probably 3/10 now, but highly recommend airing down tires for the soft sand.

The trail was in good condition. A couple water/mud holes like in the picture though not overly muddy or full of water. would recommend. it's nice and peaceful with some open sandy spots to play in.

Overall trail is very passable - rode 4high most of the trail - there are a few spots w/ deep puddles and loose sand... we got stuck and had to get a tow out.

Northern part of the trail is all soft sand with whoops, quite fun to drive. Would strongly recommend airing down. Water holes can be deceivingly deep, I’ve gotten water half-way up the windshield on a previous trip and nearly killed my car. Most have a bypass but there’s a few on the south side that do not and like this time are almost never dry.

Watch the wet season , I’m on 38.5’s and plenty of lift with a snorkel and I needed it because water was over my hood

Open, no obstructions. Very dry and deeper soft sand in some spots. Only 1 water crossing with dry alternate. Check it out before it starts raining again!

On the southern third of the trail there is a downed pine across the path. It is possible you make out around if your vehicle isn’t too bulky or if you don’t mind clearing some brush.
