Trail Overview

This is an unnamed BLM road that leads from the main road into Wilson Reservoir to the old cabin sitting on the edge of the water directly across from the boat ramp area. The trail to get here is mostly a 2-track that is narrow with sagebrush growing up on both sides. There are 4 water crossings, approximately a foot deep, and several mud holes. This is a bumpy road with some rocks that prevent you from traveling at higher speeds. You will travel along a fence row, and just before the trail turns left to the final approach of the cabin, you briefly enter private property. There is a barbed wire gate that you must open and close behind you. The cabin is in deteriorating condition, but the deck around it is sturdy enough to walk on. There is a padlock on the door of the cabin, so you should not try to make entry. The view over the reservoir and of the surrounding mountains is extraordinary, making this a prime spot for lunch breaks and sightseeing. Cell phone service is weak at best, and there are no amenities on this side of the reservoir. It is likely you will encounter cows, wild horses, and possibly antelope along this trail. Expect minor pin-striping and to get muddy, as it is a thick mud in the area. High clearance 4x4 is recommended for this trail.
