Pole Line Road is a scenic, 6.7-mile desert trail heading south from Beatty, Nevada, that offers an approachable offroad route with access to historic abandoned mining complexes. Ideal for high-clearance four-wheel-drive vehicles, SxSs, and dirt bikes, this trail parallels the power lines as it transitions from town-adjacent dirt trails into the open desert. Traveling through an elevation range between 2,840 and 3,147 feet with a gentle 306-foot climb, the route features a mostly hard-packed dirt surface with a technical rating of 3. Drivers should remain alert for occasional sandy wash crossings, silty sections, and sharp desert rocks that can threaten standard tires. A particularly tricky section occurs where the trail passes near asphalt and private property; offroaders must carefully follow the designated track to bypass private land, watch for loose dogs, and keep speeds low to minimize dust.
Beyond the private property segment, the trail becomes a classic two-track route shared with local wild burros, whose tracks frequently crisscross the path. The desert terrain features a few sudden twists, bermed corners, and serious kickers that can surprise faster riders and drivers.
