Trail Overview
Pine Grove Connector ATV is a short but highly challenging 0.7-mile route designed for advanced offroaders seeking to navigate extremely rugged, impassable-to-most terrain in the Pine Grove area. The trail begins at approximately 5,036 feet of elevation and rises to 5,148 feet, starting as a flat sandy wash that quickly leads to a massive, impassable fifty-foot rock wall. To bypass this major obstacle, highly experienced riders in capable four-wheel-drive vehicles, ATVs, or SxSs must tackle advanced side trails characterized by steep, loose sand climbs that demand excellent traction and precise throttle control.
Beyond the demanding bypass climbs, the route transitions back into a moderate trail featuring flatter sandy washes that are rated as a moderate difficulty level. Total elevation gain along this short connector is minimal at around 125 feet, but the extreme grade on the bypasses reaches up to nearly thirty degrees. Due to the loose sand and steep obstacles, airing down tires is highly recommended, and drivers should be fully prepared for recovery situations before attempting to navigate this connector.
Difficulty
From Drainage End Trl. this road is impassable by all vehicles. Road is a flat sandy wash that ends at a 50' rock wall. We saw some side trails that lead up and around the obstacle. I would rate those as Advanced with loose sand and steep climbs. The other side of the obstacle is a 4 Intemperate with flat sandy washes.
