Trail Overview
This 5-mile extension of the Logandale 13-mile loop is absolutely worth adding to your trip. It starts off mellow, heading down the wide and open Overton Wash, but don’t let that fool you — the fun begins around mile 2.3 when the trail turns north and climbs quickly. From there, you’ll tackle a relatively narrow shelf road with a steep climb to a road that allows you to exit toward Moapa Valley. Continuing on, you'll encounter ups and downs, limited-visibility break-overs, and a few solid obstacles. Staying on route rewards you with incredible views as you traverse a scenic ridgeline above the valley. The 2-track runs along the spine of the hills, offering spectacular scenery the entire way. Expect some rocky sections and even a small waterfall. Traveling east would be more challenging due to encountering the waterfall on a sustained uphill climb, but heading west makes for a more manageable obstacle. I’d recommend at least a mildly lifted vehicle — a friend's stock Jeep made contact a few times. My 2.5-inch lifted Jeep hit once. With the elevation changes, obstacles, and rocky terrain, I’d rate this trail a solid 3 or 4 in difficulty. Definitely a fun and scenic addition to the Logandale area!
Difficulty
This trail features steep ups and downs, limited visibility on break-overs, rocky terrain, and one waterfall, with a climb or drop of about 18 inches.
