Trail Overview

This trail can be dusty. Head size sharp rocks on hard pack with occasional tree roots. Trail is roughly a 3 (any 4x4 should make it). Saw Jeeps, SxS, and ATVs on this day. There are a few small drop-offs on the South end of the trail that could be challenging if traveling North. The trail does not go to the true summit (that is accessed by a strenuous but short hike). No camping, fees, or toilets are provided. If you look closely, about 50 yards to the South of the "parking" area, there is a grave marker.

Difficulty

Small drop-offs when heading south on the trail, easy to negotiate. If heading North, a little more finesse is needed.

Ran with my 2016 wk2 with 2.5” OME lift on 32s and front to back skid plates and rock rails. These trails should probably be split into 2 (north and south). The south trail up to the peak is very rough, fairly steep in several places, with many deep ruts, large exposed rocks along with loose dirt/gravel. I have a lot of experience with my rig and was able to make it up just fine in 4low and some careful maneuvering but I did have to back down and bump over a few rocks to get over, didn’t hit plates or rails. I would put the south leg at a 5, I ran Forrestdale road last week and this was similar in difficulty just with a little different terrain. North leg is appropriately rated at a 3.

Trail was in good shape. Be aware the southern trail from the peak has a lot of loose granite and a couple spots that required a spotter for me. I’d say that part of the trail is about the limit of my outback without making rock or traction board ramps. Anything with 12 inches shouldn’t have an issue but 9 inches of clearance is definitely the minimum.

Nevada Jeep Club (40 rigs) rode the trail today. Some deer in the distance. Lots of wind today and dusty.

Laid some tracks today in the snowstorm. Came in through the south and had to break out the winch and air down to 10psi (from 40psi) for the last half mile up the south side Genoa Peak Trail. Supposed to clear up tomorrow so should be an easy & clear ride out. 🤙

Came up from the south. It was unexpectedly rocky with big boulders requiring 4 low and a bit of patience to climb up. We came down on the north end and that was way easier. Bottom line: go up from the north side if you’re looking for an easy adventure with a spectacular view. If you wanna earn it a little go up from the south.
