Delamar Ghost Town

Waypoint on trail is not anywhere close to where the actual ghost town is

Enjoyed the history of this old mining town. I tried to visualize what it would have been like when it was a vibrant bustling mining town. As most have said, the dirt road off the highway is fairly smooth. When you start climbing the mountain up to the town, it gets pretty rocky and rough but was no problem in 2wd in my Wrangler. Don’t miss the cemetery at the bottom of the hill!

I drove from Beaver Dam State Park past Barclay to Ella lookout. Took the lower loop of the OnX blue trail which had spectacular views while dropping 5000’ elevation. When I popped out on the 93 freeway just north of Coyote Springs, the trespassing sign was at the entrance. No government agency is listed on sign. Assuming it’s from locals just wanting to dissuade travelers.

Great intermediate trail through the desert.Lots of ranch and mining history. The trail is rugged and goes through some washes if coming from the south. True 4x4 recommended here. Anything with a bit of ground clearance can come in on the green Delamar Rd from the north by Caliente.The last bit of blue trail to the town is still easy. This is where the town actually is, not where OnX says it is. Lots of old rock structures still there.
