Trail Overview

The Snow Shoe Creek Road is a wonderful escape into the high alpine meadows of the Helena National Forest. The trail begins in the lush hay valleys along the Little Blackfoot River and ends near the spine of the continent, the Continental Divide. Along the way, rippling creeks and small lakes abound. Rich with wildlife, one will want to keep the camera handy. Starting at the junction with Highway 12, the first eight miles are private so please stay on the trail. After entering the forest, opportunities for dispersed camping are abundant. The road gets more difficult as it gains altitude, but even at its hardest, it is suitable for most vehicles.

Some hard pack snow still in the shade but paths have been made by vehicles. Easy to go over or around. Some mud but not much. Very easy trail
