Trail Overview

This 2.4-mile trail takes only 15-20 minutes to complete. In late July there were multiple puddles to cross, so there is probably water in this area routinely. It's an excellent route to work your way south towards Whitehall without having to go down the dirt road (399). From Boulder, MT, go south on Highway 69 toward Whitehall, then turn right on North Whitetail Road (399). Stage in the sagebrush flats at the top. The trail starts at a large dry camping area.

Approached from the North end going south. -1st Obstacle: Elevated rocks (8”) barely wide enough for full width truck, possibility of rim damage. -2nd Obstacle: Washout with steep side slopes, vehicle must cross the rut that is nearly vertical. Tipping is a hazard. -3rd Obstacle: more elevated rocks up to 8”. Would recommend OHV only.
