Trail Overview

This trail used to be the original Highway 2 but was abandoned years ago when the highway was rerouted in 1956. There are still remnants of old broken asphalt and stone retaining walls are still in place. This trail is fairly level and very easy to transverse although it does get narrow and brushy in spots. There is one shallow water crossing along the way but there was nothing that required 4wd. This trail will give access to four hiking trails, Cascadilla Creek, Rescue Creek, Great Bear Creek, and Skiumah Creek all to the West. The views are also outstanding as Glacier National Park is just across the highway to the East.
