Trail Overview

This is a scenic road that leads to the top of Desert Mountain where you can get a spectacular nearly 240 degree view of the surrounding area at an elevation of 6,415. There is also a very short road that leads to Belton Point once you get to the top. This single lane forest service road is accessed just outside of Martin City where the Hungry Horse Reservoir East road begins. There is a small parking lot at the base of the trail. The road is somewhat maintained but there are some places with ruts, rocky areas, and some spots that could be muddy after recent rain. Nearing the top of the mountain, the road has steep drop offs which may cause some people concern but there is a full vehicle width of road.

Road was beautiful some small trees over the road but easy to drive over. At the top it turned to snow the road gets very slick could be very dangerous quick.

Trial was as expected and fun to drive. There are a few spots where water has eroded the track but nothing too bad. A couple wet spots but again nothing that's a problem. View at the end of the trail was excellent. There's a little smoke in the air from the Canadian wild fires that reduce visibility but it was still a great view.

Very easy road. It does get tight towards the top and is difficult to pass oncoming traffic, but it only like this for a 1/4 mi or so. Great views and a fun trail

Had an epic light saber battle on top. Did indeed have the high ground.
