Trail Overview
This road extends from Fish Creek (FSR 343) to Quartz Loop Road. It is a nice Sunday drive paralleling south of I-90 with great views of the Clark Fork River and the valley I-90 runs through. This trail offers multiple places to stop and explore or take in the views during lunch, with a few bridge crossings that can offer good fishing access.
Difficulty
This trail is mostly an easy Sunday drive. However, from mile 4.6 to 7.8 (traveling southeast to northwest) the trail narrows. Portions of the trail are on native sandy material with winter-time ruts and a few deeper obstacles up to 18 inches. After passing Quartz Creek, the road turns into a shelf road with loose rock and frequent rock falls, possibly making the road impassible at times or impassable to larger vehicles. On the day of the trail recording, a large rock made passing unavailable to full-width vehicles. Therefore, this trail receives a rating of 3.
