Trail Overview
This section of the Bitterroot-Rock Creek Divide trail, also known as FS 313, is ATV and dirt bike-only. North of Ambrose Point, FS 313 is open to all use, and south of the Sawmill intersection, 313 is non-motorized. This portion of the trail, starting from Ambrose Point and going south, is well used and consequently pretty rough in places, with 3 to 6-inch rocks littering the trail. It is fairly well maintained as far as brush, but you’ll likely encounter at least a couple of down trees. All of the trail is in the trees and is mostly fast, flowing sections, but there are rocks and roots scattered throughout. It can be done as an out-and-back from either end, or use one of the connector roads to make a nice loop.
Difficulty
Parts of the trail have loose rocks up to 6 inches, with a few easy hills up and down. Most of it is a pretty fast 50-inch wide trail without much brush. You will likely encounter some down trees to get over.
