Trail Overview
Bemish Ridge- USFS 7583 is a moderately traveled gravel road through Lolo National Forest north of St. Regis, Montana. There is significant deadfall from a recent fire in the area. Take a saw with you to be prepared. It is easily traveled by all vehicles except when snow or ice covered. The roadway is subject to some mild erosion from heavy rains, don't travel during heavy winds. There are portions in the higher elevation that have brush encroach on the roadway. This area has logging, hunting, and other activities present. Multiple divergent trails branch off the main roadway, and most of them are gated. There are some camping spots at the summit and a few pullouts along the route. There are also dedicated hiking trails, the CC Divide trail crosses the roadway at the top of the ridge line. There are deer, elk, bears, and small ground animals in the area, but no vault bathrooms or amenities.
Difficulty
The ascent can be steeper, about 5% grade at times, the greatest obstacle can be tree dead fall from burnt trees.
