Trail Overview
This trail is primarily composed of a dirt base and offers a relatively smooth and easy ride for most off-road capable vehicles, including stock 4x4s. While the majority of the route is straightforward, there is a section with scattered rocks that may require a bit more attention but should be manageable for drivers with basic trail experience. The trail winds through forested areas, and due to some overgrowth from nearby trees and brush, pinstriping is possible, especially on wider vehicles. History
The Iron Range OHV Recreation Area was built on reclaimed mining land, once part of the rich Mesabi Iron Range that fueled U.S. steel production for over a century. Today, this 1,200+ acre site blends industrial history with outdoor adventure, offering a rare chance to ride through the remnants of Minnesota's mining legacy.
