Trail Overview
Host Lake begins as an overgrown grass route and quickly enters dense forest with vegetation and low branches close to the driving corridor. The trail has frequent undulations, hidden rocks, off-camber sections, and fallen trees. Rocks generally range from 6–8 inches, with some sections containing rocks approximately 10–12 inches. Several areas are narrow enough that vegetation contacts the vehicle. The trail passes through occasional clearings that may provide suitable dispersed camping areas for appropriately sized vehicles. Near the end, the route becomes increasingly rocky and overgrown before a fallen tree blocks further travel.
Difficulty
The primary challenge is the combination of hidden rocks, uneven terrain, off-camber sections, and very tight vegetation. Larger rocks reach approximately 10–12 inches in some areas. Fallen trees and muddy sections require careful line selection.
