Trail Overview
This trail provides access to a section of the Dark River South Trail and intersects with the Taconite ATV and side-by-side trail. From the outset, the route is narrow and increasingly overgrown as it winds its way into the forest, despite the presence of two residences along its length. The trail surface is a mix of sand and mud, with occasional rocky and uneven sections that can make for a bumpy ride. Vegetation encroaches heavily in places, especially as the trail nears the hiking route, raising the risk of pinstriping. Near the end, the trail parallels the Taconite Trail for a short distance before arriving at a small, rough parking area where it effectively ends at the hiking trailhead. A fork in the trail leads to private property and is not open to the public. The trail does not offer any formal or dispersed camping opportunities and lacks basic amenities such as trash collection, water access, and reliable cell coverage.
