Trail Overview
This trail features a few small hill climbs that add a bit of variety to the ride without being overly technical. As you descend into the lower section, you'll encounter a deeper mud hole that may require careful tire placement or momentum to get through, especially after recent rainfall. Following that, there's a shallower mud hole with a visible bypass for those looking to avoid the mess. The trail continues on to provide access to Split Personality, Break the Bank, and Bob the Builder. It's important to note that Bob the Builder is not for full-size vehicles due to its extremely tight layout.
Difficulty
This trail is mostly easy with a few small hill climbs. There's a deeper mud hole near the bottom, followed by a shallower one with a bypass. It connects to harder trails like Split Personality and Break the Bank. Note: Bob the Builder is too tight for full-size rigs.
History
The Iron Range OHV Recreation Area was built on reclaimed mining land, once part of the rich Mesabi Iron Range that fueled U.S. steel production for over a century. Today, this 1,200+ acre site blends industrial history with outdoor adventure, offering a rare chance to ride through the remnants of Minnesota's mining legacy.
