Trail Overview
At just under 3 miles, Trail 7 is the longest trail in the Alger Grade system. There are many boulder features throughout, with steep ledges and step-ups. Some of them can be avoided, but most are part of the main line. You can expect plenty of off-camber sections with roots and smaller loose rocks, as well as steep inclines.
Difficulty
In ideal conditions, Trail 7 scores a 5 because traction is pretty good on the large rock faces, allowing riders to roll up the ledgy boulders, given they carry enough momentum and drive. In wet conditions, however, it scores closer to a 6 because the rocks and roots get very slick, especially in the off-camber sections. Even then, it's still manageable if ridden with a bias towards momentum rather than brute force. The largest ledge also has a go-around to the side of it, marked clearly by signage.
