St. Helen ORV Route - North

Michigan DNR ORV Route is open to full-size, 50-inch, and dirt bikes with ORV and Trail permits. Most of this area offers wide trails with deep sand. It has heavy traffic on weekends as it is a great starting point for an adventure, offering trailheads both at the north and south sides of this route. This area also offers St. Helen Motorsports Area, which is a block of DNR-controlled land that allows off-trail activity as you wish. Inside this area is a rock course for mild to wild crawlers as well as open sandy areas with hills if you wish to go fast. St. Helen ORV Route connects to other routes in the area as well as countless miles of forest roads to explore. Many of these trails are also shared use with snowmobiles in the winter.
