Trail Overview

Forest Service Road 9705 is an easy, fun off-road trail. This trail is located just around the corner from the Woodland Park area, thus making this route easily accessible. This trail is very easy with nothing technical. Most of the trail is a combination of sand and dirt and weaves through a beautiful forest with great fall foliage. This trail is traveled quite often and is plenty wide. This trail also branches off to NFS 9716, which is a seasonal trail only open from 4/01 to 11/30. NFS 9705 gives access to the North Country Hiking Trail. Like most Michigan trails, conditions are dependent on the weather. Recent rainfall can cause mud/water holes that can get rutted out quickly. This trail is typically only wide enough for 1 vehicle, but there are plenty of places to pass. Enjoy this loop in all of its elegance.
