Trail Overview
NFS 6079 is a beautiful scenic trail located within the Manistee National Forest. This trail is easily accessible as it's right off North 156th Avenue. Starting from the western end, you'll start on a dirt/gravel road in the lush forest. You'll weave through those trees alongside the lush vegetation edging the trail. Be sure to take it all in. Shortly after, you'll enter a thicker section of the forest, bringing a really different vibe and mood to the route. There are many different things to find along this trail. There are quite a few water/mud obstacles along this trail, so make sure you are paying close attention and checking the depth if needed based on the size of your vehicle. Please TREAD LIGHTLY so future generations can enjoy these public spaces. Like most of Michigan trails, conditions are dependent on the weather. Recent rainfall can cause unfavorable conditions on the trail, including downed trees, mud holes, and washouts. Come Prepared! This is not a difficult trail at all, but it contains a lot of beauty and gives access to other great trails nearby. The eastern end of the trail finishes kind of abruptly. From what we could see, it looked like you could choose to go either left or right and continue your journey, but unfortunately, that is not the case on this trail. Please do not veer off the trail in either of those directions because they both just end at private property. Regardless of the conditions of this trail, it's a wonderful route to check out! As always, PLEASE TREAD LIGHTLY and be respectful of our public lands so future generations can have access to these trails!
