Trail Overview
NFS 5473 is a classic Michigan two track bidirectional trail within the Manistee National Forest. Located near highway M-37 and Caberfae Peaks Ski & Golf Resort, this trail is easily accessible. Most of the trail is a combination of dirt, sand, and leaves. Starting out from the eastern end, you'll begin in a dense portion of the forest. This route has a lot of overgrowth along it. You may come across overhanging or downed trees. Come prepared. There's plenty of incredible nature to see out here. Like most of Michigan trails, conditions are dependent on the weather. Recent rainfall can cause downed trees, washouts, & mud holes. Most of this trail is only wide enough for 1 vehicle with limited places to pass. As always, PLEASE TREAD LIGHTLY and be respectful of our public lands so future generations can have access to these trails! The western end of this trail finishes back out at NFS 5478. Although there aren't any noted obstacles and this trail is not difficult, it does throw a lot of vegetation at you. However, it does offer other recreation with a lot of fun to be had! Regardless of the length, difficulty, or conditions, this is a good trail to check out!
