Trail Overview

FS 8250 is an easy, bidirectional two-track loop at the end of North Kettle Hole Road in Michigan's Manistee National Forest, making it a great option for anyone looking for a short but scenic off-road drive. The trail follows a dirt and sand surface as it winds through the forest above the Manistee River, offering several impressive overlooks of the river corridor along the way. A large pullout provides a convenient place to stop, take in the views, enjoy a picnic, or camp where dispersed camping is permitted. Although the route has no major technical obstacles, a few deeper ruts may develop in places, especially after wet weather, so drivers should use caution and choose their line carefully. Like many forest roads in Michigan, trail conditions can change quickly with rainfall, and mud, standing water, washouts, or downed trees are always possible. Suitable for most high-clearance vehicles in normal conditions, FS 8250 also provides convenient access to nearby hiking trails, hunting areas, and additional recreation throughout Manistee National Forest, making it a rewarding addition to any day of exploring the area.
