FS 8183

FS 8183 is a quick and unique bidirectional trail within the Manistee National Forest. Located between FS 8180 and Good Road (FS 8160), this trail is easily accessible and can be combined with other trails to make for a fun adventure. Starting from the southern end, you'll start off on a dirt road with tons of leaves covering up the trail. The trail then enters a thicker portion of the forest that brings a different vibe and mood to the adventure and also has areas of thicker sand here and there. This can be a busy trail due to the hiking trails that are throughout this area. The trail eventually ends at the northern end at FS 8180. There were quite a few ruts along this trail when we were on it, so just stay aware. Like most Michigan trails, conditions are dependent on the weather. Recent rainfall can cause unfavorable conditions on the trail, including downed trees, mud holes, and washouts. Come Prepared! This is not a difficult trail at all, but it contains a lot of fun and beauty, and gives access to other great trails nearby. Regardless of the conditions of this trail, it's a wonderful route to explore with a lot of fun to be had!
