Trail Overview

FS 8169 is a beautiful and unique bidirectional trail within the Manistee National Forest. Located between Good Road (FS 8160) from the north and Pomeroy Springs Road from the south, this trail is easily accessible. Starting from the northern end, you'll start out in a pretty tight part of the forest with trees lining the trail on a dirt road. As you continue down the trail, you'll twist and turn as you change to a more lush, tight part of the forest. There are quite a few areas along this trail where you may earn some more of those generous Michigan pinstripes. There are also tons of hiking trails around this area, so be mindful in case you come across some hikers along the trail. Be sure to take it all in, and TREAD LIGHTLY so future generations can enjoy these public spaces. Like most Michigan trails, conditions are dependent on the weather. Recent rainfall can cause unfavorable conditions on the trail, including downed trees, mud holes, and washouts. Come Prepared! You'll pass through a gorgeous section of towering trees, but be given some amazing views. This is not a difficult trail at all, but still contains a lot of fun and beauty. This trail also gives access to other great trails nearby. The southern end of the trail finishes near Pomeroy Springs Road, which either gives you easy access out to the road or if you want to continue your journey, there are tons of other great trails nearby. Make a day out of it as we did! Regardless of the conditions or length of this trail, it's a very fun route to check out! As always, PLEASE TREAD LIGHTLY and be respectful of our public lands so future generations can have access to these trails!
