Trail Overview

FS 5555 is an exciting out and back almost 1 mile trail within the Manistee National Forest. Located just off Chicago Avenue, this trail is easily accessible. This trail gives way to the Blacksmith Bayou River Access. A Michigan Recreation Passport is required for entry onto this trail, so keep that in mind when planning. A Day Use Fee is also required to manage and service this site. Feel free to spend the day here and take in all the beauty it has to offer. Like most Michigan trails, conditions are dependent on the weather. Recent rainfall can cause unfavorable conditions on the trail, including downed trees, mud holes, and washouts. Come Prepared! Most of this trail is only wide enough for 1 vehicle with limited places to pass. You'll pass through a gorgeous section of towering pine trees throughout some of this trail. This is not a difficult trail at all, but still contains a lot of fun and beauty. Regardless of the conditions or length of this trail, it's a very fun route to check out! As always, PLEASE TREAD LIGHTLY and be respectful of our public lands so future generations can have access to these trails!
