Trail Overview

FS 5096 is a quick and unique out-and-back trail within the Manistee National Forest. Located off North High Bridge Road, this trail is easily accessible and can make for a fun adventure. You'll start on a dirt road with tons of leaves covering up the trail. The trail then enters a thicker portion of the forest that brings a different vibe and mood to the adventure and also has some tight sections. There aren't really any notable obstacles along this route, but it keeps you entertained as you travel alongside the Cedar Swamp. The trail eventually ends kind of abruptly, so choose a good spot to turn yourself around. Like most Michigan trails, conditions are dependent on the weather. Recent rainfall can cause unfavorable conditions on the trail, including downed trees, mud holes, and washouts. Come Prepared! This is not a difficult trail at all, but it contains a lot of fun and beauty.
