Trail Overview

FS 5482 is a laid-back and scenic 1-mile bidirectional trail within the Manistee National Forest. Located between Pole Road and Sheep Ranch Road, this trail is easily accessible. This trail surface consists of a dirt and sand combination. This route twists through a beautiful portion of the forest and starts out with towering overhanging trees. This is such an amazing sight to see, and I'm sure the fall time especially is a wonderful time to be on this trail. The trail is easy going, but there is one specific washed-out area to note. The towering trees along this route are what makes this trail special. Like most Michigan offroad trails, conditions are dependent on the weather. Recent rainfall can cause unfavorable conditions on the trail, including downed trees, mud holes, and washouts. This is not a difficult trail at all, but it contains a lot of beauty and gives access to local hiking, hunting, and recreation. The trail finishes at Sheep Ranch Road, but make sure you go the correct direction so you don't end up crossing through to private property. Regardless of the length or conditions of this trail, it's a scenic and fun route to check out. As always, PLEASE TREAD LIGHTLY and be respectful of our public lands so future generations can have access to these trails.
