Trail Overview
FS 5007 is a bidirectional trail within the Manistee National Forest and is very similar to its connecting trail, FS 5006. Located east of the town of Yuma and south of the town of Mesick, this trail is easily accessible. Most of the trail is a combination of dirt, gravel, and sand. Starting out from the western end, like the other nearby trails, you'll begin in a dense portion of the forest. As you continue, 0.4 miles in, the trail hits its peak elevation at 1616 feet. You'll twist and turn as you descend through the remainder of this track. There are a couple of sandy wash sections but nothing major, just noteworthy. Like most of Michigan trails, conditions are dependent on the weather. Recent rainfall can cause downed trees, washouts, & mud holes. Most of this trail is only wide enough for 1 vehicle with limited places to pass. As always, PLEASE TREAD LIGHTLY and be respectful of our public lands so future generations can have access to these trails! This trail finishes at a T with FS 9784. This is not a difficult trail, but it leads to other wonderful trails for more opportunities for fun! Regardless of the conditions, this is a great trail for everyone to experience!
