FS 1001

FS 1001 is a fast-paced, flat two-track that travels through a clear-cut section of the Huron National Forest. The trail is one vehicle wide with several areas to pass, with great views across the clear-cut and surrounding forest. The west end can be accessed from Chase Bridge Road, while the east end connects with Canoe Harbor Road. The east end begins in the Grayling State Forest before crossing into the Huron National Forest shortly after the start of the route. A sign marks the transition between the two forest areas. FS 1001 also provides access to several other routes, making it a useful connection for exploring the surrounding area. Be mindful of trail conditions and other users while following Tread Lightly and Leave No Trace principles.
