Trail Overview
This is a steep bypass for the Big Daily Bayou trail. It was probably the original way down the hill until the trail was reengineered to make it easier for people with boats to safely reach the river. This 500' section features one of the steepest two-track hills around. The main pitch of the hill is an 18% grade, and the outside track is rutted pretty deeply, so you will lean away from the safety of the high side, toward the steep low side. It is narrow, but sufficient. Snow and ice could make this quite dangerous, and rain and mud could make it challenging for some vehicles. The road is cut out of the glacial till, making for a combination of rock, clay, and some loose dirt. If you're looking for a local hill to try out your crawl control or descent control, this might fit the bill for you.
Difficulty
The steep angle and drop-off on the downhill side may make some folks nervous. Ruts, loose rocks, and some sliding add to the excitement.
