Trail Overview
Big 4-Norconk Connector Trail is a muddy, muddy mess of a bidirectional trail within the Traverse City Forest Management Unit. Located between Big 4-Norconk Trail on both sides, this trail is easily accessible. Starting out, you'll begin on a grassy/sandy two-track in a clearing of the forest. As you navigate down the trail, you'll enter a thick section of trees that make you feel like you just traveled to a completely different track. Here the trail narrows with a fair amount of overgrowth. PLEASE TREAD LIGHTLY, and be respectful of our public lands so future generations can have access to these trails! As you weave along the trail, you will come across tons of mud holes. Make sure that you check the depth of each of these as you come across them if you are worried or if you are going after a recent rainfall, as they could be very deep. This is definitely something to be noted. This is a trail that should be taken slowly to ensure you can pass through safely. Like most Michigan trails, conditions are dependent on the weather. Recent rainfall can cause unfavorable conditions on the trail, including downed trees, mud holes, and washouts. Come prepared. Most of this trail is only wide enough for 1 vehicle with limited places to pass. The end of the trail finishes at the other end of the Big 4-Norconk Trail. This trail contains a lot of beauty and gives access to other great trails nearby. If you like to get muddy, this trail is especially for you! Regardless of the length or conditions, this is a fantastic trail!
Difficulty
This trail was given a technical rating & difficulty of 4 due to the many mud holes and obstacles up to 18 inches, as well as being typically one vehicle wide with limited places to pass. The mud along this track is VERY sticky and will suction tires to it, making this trail more difficult than most others in the area. Use caution and be prepared before attempting this trail.
