Trail Overview
Alger Falls U.P. 419 is an easy, scenic ORV route perfect for beginners and those looking for a quick, beautiful connector trail near Munising. Ideal for dual-sport motorcycles, ATVs, SxSs, and high-clearance four-wheel-drive vehicles, this short connector links UP 419 on the north with Highway 94 and Highway 28 on the south. As you wind through the dense hardwood canopy, the path offers a relaxed drive through Michigan’s Upper Peninsula wilderness, with the surrounding forest turning into a vibrant canvas of reds, oranges, and yellows during the autumn peak. The terrain consists primarily of dirt and gravel, which is generally hard-packed but susceptible to pooling water and minor washouts after heavy rainfall.
Conveniently located near two of the area's most popular roadside attractions, Wagner Falls and Alger Falls, this trail makes an excellent starting point or midday connector for a full day of riding. The southern terminus exits directly onto Highway 94, placing riders just minutes away from fuel stations, local eateries, and convenience stores in Munising to restock on supplies. While the trail is rated a gentle 2, drivers should remain alert for muddy spots and changing track conditions typical of the region's seasonal weather. An ORV license and trail permit from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources are required for motorized use.
