Trail Overview

This is a quiet and usually easy alternative route to ascend Mount Greylock, Massachusetts highest peak. While only open June through October, this gravely jaunt through the woods is more peaceful than the paved and more popular Rockwell Road. Eventually it does meet up with the paved main road, and continues to the peak.

Difficulty

This single wide track is no more difficult than many dirt roads, but is not frequently maintained, so trees often block the road.

The trail we very dry and clear the whole way. We did not pass any vehicle along our journey. The trail was very smooth and and most vehicles would make it up. However it does get steep in some sections. Nice ride through the woods.

Trees are cleared. Trail was easy, even in my Forester. Loose rocks in some of the steeper parts required a little more focus when driving.

A short distance after the entrance gate this big tree was blocking the way. Had to turn back.
