Trail Overview

Beartown Mountain Road winds its way through the northern section of Beartown State Forest. Beginning at route 102 and travelling south into the park, the gravel begins 2 miles in. The trail begins at an unlocked gate. Remnants of pavement that deteriorated over the years are still visible from time to time at the beginning of the route. Just .2 miles from the end of the route, you will cross paths with the Appalachian Trail. The road ends in a small dirt parking lot in a residential area. Please be respectful. There are several trails that offshoot from Beartown Road. Please abide by posted restrictions on allowed vehicles.

Difficulty

The road is not maintained, with some mildly stepped sections with less gravel. Plenty of holes and ruts that fill with rainwater and run off.
